After a hard-fought 2β2 draw against Brewood, Kinver Chess Club remains top of Division Three in the Wolverhampton & District Chess League.
With 12 matches played, Kinver currently leads the table on 19 points, but the title race is extremely tight with Rugeley B and Stafford B close behind on 18 points.
Every point matters at this stage of the season, so the team will be pushing hard in the remaining fixtures to stay ahead.
Well done to everyone representing Kinver so far this season β it's shaping up to be an exciting finish! βοΈ

It was a tough match against Kidderminster, with some very close games across the boards. Everyone battled hard and gave it their all, and the team spirit was excellent throughout the evening.
Unfortunately, we didnβt get the win this time, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable match and great to see such competitive chess being played.

Before the start of our league match, Kinver Chess Club held a minuteβs silence in memory of our founder, Paul Sharratt.
The players then honoured him in the best way possible β over the board.
Kinver delivered another strong performance and secured another league win, showing determination, focus, and real team spirit throughout the evening.
There were some excellent games across the boards, with fighting chess and cool heads in key moments helping us get over the line.
Onwards together.

We are deeply saddened of the passing of our founder, who started Kinver Chess Club earlier this season.
His enthusiasm and belief in bringing chess to Kinver were instrumental in getting the club off the ground and shaping this seasons success. He made a real difference to the club and to the players.
His passing is a huge sadness to the chess community, and he will be remembered with gratitude and respect.

Our first match in the Dudley & District Chess League (Div 2) saw Kinver take on Oscott in a very closely fought encounter.
Plenty of hard-fought games and a lot of draws across the boards, but the match finished 1Β½ β 2Β½ β so we just missed out this time.
A strong performance, lots to build on, and a great introduction to the league for Kinver. Onwards and upwards πͺβοΈ

A close and competitive match between the current top two sides, with Kinver securing a solid away draw.
There were hard-fought games across all boards, with nothing separating the teams in the end. A fair result that reflected how evenly matched the contest was on the night.
Thanks again to everyone who played. π

A big thank you to Derbyshire for making the trip, it was very much appreciated. We were delighted to support the MCCU and Worcestershire by hosting the Worcestershire vs Derbyshire county match.
Although Kinver Chess Club sits in Staffordshire, our club and many of our players have strong links with the Worcestershire Chess Association, so it was great to welcome everyone for an evening of fun, competitive chess in our lovely venue.
